Cape Town - It’s not all just tinsel and tiaras for commoners who marry into the royal family – it seems there’s a lot they have to give up. The life they knew is turned on its head and they often have to leave family and friends behind, a new documentary about the Duchess of Cambridge shows.
Entitled Kate Middleton: Working Class to Windsor, the Amazon Prime doccie made in 2017 reveals that William assured his wife she wouldn’t have to leave her family behind after marrying into the Windsors, Express reports.
Prince William wanted to make the transition as smooth as possible for his bride and promised her she wouldn’t have to let go of a key aspect of her life, Mirror reports.
In the doccie British writer Katie Nicholl examines how the pair broke tradition.
“He promised her that [Kate’s family] would always stay a part of the family and they have done that,” she says.
“Whether it’s joining the queen at Ascot or being on an important barge within the queen’s fleet at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, they’ve been there.”
The doccie also reveals that before marrying William, Kate received lessons on how to be a royal wife. She was heartily welcomed into the royal family, as per the queen’s instructions.
