Prince William says 'it is not often that I find myself following the queen to a pub' as Kate enjoys a tall pint of beer

Prince William and Kate Middleton concluded the first day of their tour of Ireland on Tuesday with a tall glass of beer.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Guinness Storehouse's Gravity Bar, where they met Irish people from across the creative arts, sport, business and charity sector, as shown on the Instagram page.

ITV News royal producer, Lizzie Robinson, shared a clip of William talking at the event.

"Catherine and I are delighted to be here tonight and are both very grateful. Ireland is a country that we've both heard so much about so we're really excited to be here with you to see it firsthand ourselves."

He added, "In coming to the Guinness Storehouse, we're retracing the footsteps of my grandmother, who was shown how to pour the perfect pint in 2011." He then joked, "Now, ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you, it is not often that I find myself following the queen to a pub. But I am looking forward to testing for myself if Guinness tastes even better in Ireland than overseas."

The Duke concluded his speech by raising his pint of beer. "Sláinte," he toasted, before taking a sip. So too did Kate.
