Princess Diana had an adorable Saturday night ritual for her two boys – and we love it!

Cape Town - The life of a royal is one filled with endless engagements and harsh scrutiny from the public – as even Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex,  is now well aware that every royal hair is always expected to be in place.

This is exactly why the late Princess Diana tried to give her boys a happy, normal childhood – despite the added pressure of raising them as part of the British monarchy.

According to Princess Di’s former butler Paul Burrell, she and her boys had a fun Saturday night ritual, reports the Mirror.

The doting mom would take the princes to McDonald’s every Saturday evening to buy Big Macs, he said.

Thereafter, they’d cosy up in front of the television to watch UK TV classic Blind Date.

"All three of them would squat on this massive stuffed hippopotamus Diana had in her sitting room," said Paul.

"They loved Blind Date and I’d hear them all screaming things like, 'Oh, don’t pick him!' and 'Lorra, lorra fun.'"

Last year, the family’s former chef Darren McGrady recalled a day when Princess Diana took her boys out for a last-minute treat, The Express reports.

"I remember [Diana] came into the kitchen one day and said, 'Cancel lunch for the boys I'm taking them out. We're going to McDonald's.'

"And I said, 'Oh my god your Royal Highness, I can do that, I can do burgers.' And she said, 'No, it's the toy they want.'"

Princess Diana tragically died in car accident in Paris in 1997 when Prince Harry was just 12 years old and Prince William was 15.
