Cape Town – When you’re a royal living in Kensington Palace where Prince Harry and Prince William grew up, all your needs are catered for.

But every once in a while even a prince craves a happy meal or wants, specifically, the toy that comes with it, Express UK reported.

Former royal family chef Darren McGrady revealed that Princess Diana once came into the palace kitchen to tell him to cancel lunch for the boys because she’d be treating them to McDonald’s, according to the Mirror.

"And I said, 'Oh my god your royal highness, I can do that, I can do burgers'." But to his surprise it wasn’t the burgers the boys wanted.

"No, it's the toy they want," Diana reportedly responded.

"Yeah, the boys loved McDonald's, and going out to pizza, and having potato skins – sort of the American foods. They were royal princes but had children's palates," the former royal cook said.

Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, also revealed that Diana and her sons also enjoyed watching a hugely popular Brit television show.

"They would... come home and sit on a giant stuffed hippopotamus Diana had in front of the TV and watch Blind Date," Paul said.

"The three of them would nip to McDonald’s for a Big Mac and fries before coming back to watch Blind Date."
