Queen Elizabeth looks regal in new oil painting

Cape Town – A new oil painting portrait of Queen Elizabeth II has been unveiled and it is regal as ever.

The longest reigning monarch was once again beautifully painted by artist Nicky Philipps. According to E! News, the piece will go on display at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which is the Queen's official royal residence in Scotland.

In the portrait, obtained by The Times Scotland, the queen can be seen standing proudly, wearing the ceremonial robes and collar of the Order of the Thistle - the highest order of chivalry in Scotland of which the Queen of Sovereign of the Order, People magazine reports.

The queen was pictured wearing the same robes in July, when attending the annual Order of the Thistle service.

This is not the first time Nicky has painted the queen.

In 2016 the royal family unveiled a portrait of Her Majesty, which was commissioned by The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers to mark her 90th birthday,

A second portrait of the queen was also unveiled on Thursday. This one was commissioned by the Royal Air Force Regiment and was displayed for Her Majesty at Windsor Castle.

The portrait, painted by artist Stuart Brown, shows the queen seated in the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle. She is wearing a powder blue dress, matched with a brooch presented to her by the RAF Regiment, which shows the Astral Crown and crossed Lee Enfield rifles.
