Prince Harry recently returned to the UK to carry out the last leg of his engagements after he and Meghan decided to step down as senior members of the royal family.

During his visit to the UK, after spending much of his time with Meghan and their nine-month-old son Archie in Canada, the 35-year-old had a four-hour-long conversation over lunch with his grandmother at Windsor Castle on Sunday 1 March, HELLO! Magazine reports.

According to a royal insider, this is the first time the pair have had the opportunity to intimately chat about Harry’s decision to remove himself and his family from the royals.

"When Harry and Meghan announced they wanted to quit it all happened very quickly and it was very stressful for all concerned," a source from the palace said.

"Sunday was the first time the queen has had the chance to talk to Harry on his own and really find out what his plans are.

"It was a much more relaxed environment and they were both able to speak their mind," the insider explained.

While the queen admitted to feeling upset about her grandson’s decision to leave the family since she wanted to see more of Archie, she’s also accepted the couple’s decision to move to North America, The Sun reports.

The insider further revealed that the 93-year-old monarch said that "they’d be welcome back with open arms" should they decide to "rejoin the royals".
