Cape Town – The royal family has shared a teaser of Queen Elizabeth’s annual Christmas broadcast and this year she is putting emphasis on treating people with respect.
Britain’s reigning monarch has kept largely out of the spotlight while her grandchildren – including the latest addition, Meghan – have been the focal points of both negative and positive headlines.
“Through the many changes I have seen over the years - faith, family and friendship have been not only a constant for me but a source of personal comfort and reassurance,” the Queen says in her speech.
The 92-year-old adds how important it is to treat people with respect, regardless of their differences – something that may relate to the way the Duchess of Sussex has been treated as well as how the former American actress’ family have treated the royals throughout the year.
“Even with the most deeply held differences, treating the other person with respect and as a fellow human-being is always a good first step towards greater understanding.”
The queen’s broadcast can be watched on the royal family’s official Twitter account at 17:00 CAT on Tuesday, 25 December.
