Cape Town - Kensington Palace announced on Monday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child.
The couple will welcome their bundle of joy in spring of 2019, which will be autumn in SA.
According to the Evening Standard, Prince Harry and Meghan told Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and the rest of the senior royals at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday before they left for Australia.
It’s believed Meghan is past the 12-week mark.
The official announcement comes just weeks after frenzied speculation circulated that the former Suits actress is expecting.
Although royal fans have been anxiously awaiting an official announcement, there were some tell-tale signs that Meghan is pregnant.
TAKE A LOOK AT ALL THE SIGNS HERE:
1. Meghan sports what appears to be a baby bump
Pregnancy rumours first started spreading in the beginning of September when Meghan stepped out wearing a blue dress, decorated with large ruffles around the stomach area.
She appeared to have a fuller figure at this charity event in London.
The dress sent social media and tabloids into a frenzy.
2. Mom Doria takes nanny lessons
Mom Doria further fuelled the rumours when it was reported that she was taking nanny lessons.
According to the Daily Star, the former social worker was learning about breastfeeding, lactation consultancy, basic baby care, CPR and first aid through the Cradle Company in Pasadena, Los Angeles.
A source told the news outlet that Meghan wants to avoid hiring staff once her first child arrives.
“The thought of having her mom move in with them and take on the role of baby nurse is the best possible solution to that. Even more so because it’s something Doria has always wanted to do anyway. She already specialises in prenatal yoga.”
3. Meghan's covered-up appearance at Princess Eugenie's wedding
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s attendance at the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank on Friday, 12 October sent the internet into overdrive.
The duchess opted to wear a Givenchy dress, covered by a loose-fitting matching coat. Meghan kept the coat buttoned up, even after she’d entered the chapel.
Royal watchers were convinced she was hiding a baby bump.
4. Source says the couple is ‘trying for a baby’
A source close to the royal couple told US Weekly that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were excited to start a family.
“They both want a big family, at least three kids,” the source said.
5. Meghan shields her stomach with folders
After touching down in Sydney, Australia, on Monday moments before the official announcement, Meghan was seen carrying purple folders, which she used to shield her stomach.
This will be her first major international tour as a duchess.
Meghan wore a black outfit with burgundy-trimmed coat lapels, which perfectly matched her purple folders.
