Cape Town – The Duchess of Sussex may have been on maternity leave, but her royal highness was hard at work as Guest Editor for the September issue of British Vogue.
"For the past seven months, The Duchess has curated the content with British Vogue's Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful to create an issue that highlights the power of the collective," announced the Sussex Royal Instagram page.
The cover for the "Forces for Change" issue, as it's been named, features familiar faces of the women we've come to know and love for the difference they're making in the world. Chimamanda Adichie, Sinead Burke, Laverne Cox and New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern are just a few of the faces that grace the cover, along with one empty space.
“The sixteenth space on the cover, a mirror, was included so that when you hold the issue in your hands, you see yourself as part of this collective,” explained the Sussex Royal post.
In a statement, the magazine also commented, "The Duchess believes British Vogue's readers are part of this moment too – as a result the 16th spot on the magazine's cover is a mirror to include the reader and encourage them to use their own platforms to effect change.”

Within the issue, readers can expect to find many an article written by the likes of Brené Brown and Jameela Jamil, as well as other trailblazers who are working tirelessly to make the world a better place. Also included are exclusive interviews with Dr Jane Goodall and former First Lady, Michelle Obama, conducted by Her Royal Highness herself.
Meghan Markle commented, "Guest Editing the September issue of British Vogue has been rewarding, educational and inspiring. To deep dive into this process, working quietly behind the scenes for so many months, I am happy to now be able to share what we have created."
On Monday, The Sussex Royal Instagram page also released a sneak peek showing Meghan behind the scenes, as well as the women involved in making the issue as inspiring as we know it will be.
Listing the many women that inspire them – the women that are a force for change in their lives – we see a few of Meghan's cover stars.
Laverne Cox opens the video, "We are at a crossroads in the world right now. The decisions that we make in every country around the world about how we're going to treat women, how we're going to treat immigrants, how we're going to treat trans people and people of colour, how we treat our planet..."
Jacinda Ardern also comments, and inspires, "One change that I've noticed over the course of my career is just how polarised the world is now. I do think there is a solution to that though, and that's ultimately us coming back to the humanity that we all share."
"I think my force for change is me," says Salma Hayek. "The ability to spend time inside, I think it's the strongest force to change the world."
