Cape Town - A day without the Prince of Wales enjoying the perfect cuppa must feel like a storm in a teacup.
Prince Charles can be quite pedantic when it comes to preparing his hot beverage, so much so that the cup his tea is being served in needs to be facing a particular direction, Daily Mail reports.
According to Evan Samson, the royal’s butler and hospitality manager, Prince Charles wants the water temperature of his tea to be precise.
Of course, the temperature is dependent on whether the 71-year-old will be having green tea, Earl Grey or English breakfast tea, all of which need to be measured with a thermometer before being served – 70°C for green tea and 100°C for others.
When it comes to his green tea, Prince Charles likes it brewed three minutes before it’s served and prefers his black tea to be brewed for five minutes, Evan revealed.
But that’s not all...
According to the Mirror, he also prefers honey or sugar as sweeteners which need to be added to his teacup before the hot water or milk.
But Prince Charles isn’t the only royal who prefers his tea be made a particular way.
Queen Elizabeth’s butler recently revealed that she’s a huge fan of Assam and Earl Grey and pours in the tea before she adds the milk, Hello Magazine reports.
