Cape Town - Prince Philip reportedly can’t stand one British tradition that Queen Elizabeth is quite fond of.

A palace insider recently told the Express that the Duke of Edinburgh doesn’t enjoy drinking tea, something that’s extremely popular in Britain.

Instead, the 98-year-old royal enjoys a cup of black coffee.

But Prince Philip is missing out on key nutritional benefits, according to nutritionist Carrie Ruxton, New Idea reports.

"Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water," Ruxton said. "Water is essentially replacing fluid.

"Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so it's got two things going for it. Even if you had a really, really strong cup of tea or coffee, which is quite hard to make, you’d still have a net gain of fluid [which means your body retains more than it excretes].

"Also, a cup of tea contains fluoride, which is good for the teeth."

But this isn’t the first bizarre revelation to come out of the palace.

It was recently revealed that Prince Philip doesn’t believe in wearing pajamas and sleeps naked, Metro reports.
