Earlier this year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the world by storm after announcing that they’re officially stepping down from the royal family.
This meant they’d stop being working royals and be at liberty to engage in any work of their choice, BBC reports.
After months of reflection, it was announced that they were to become financially independent. In their statement, the couple also revealed their intention to move to America but to still travel occasionally to the United Kingdom to raise their son, 11-month-old Archie, with an appreciation of his "roots".
"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity," they explained.
Although the couple will not deprive Archie of visits to the United Kingdom and knowledge of his lineage, anthropologist and friend to the couple Dr Jane Goodall has revealed that Harry doesn’t want his son growing up like a royal.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Goodall said she learnt this from conversations after an interview conducted for Meghan's September issue of Vogue with Harry and herself last year.
"At the end [of the conversation] Meghan came in to listen with Archie. He was very tiny and very sleepy – not too pleased to be passed from his mummy. I think I was one of the first to cuddle him outside the family," she told the publication,
Goodall went on to add that Harry told her that Archie wouldn’t learn Queen Elizabeth’s infamous wave, which done with a vertical hand and slight twist of the wrist.
"I made Archie do the queen’s wave, saying, ‘I suppose he’ll have to learn this.’ Harry said, ‘No, he’s not growing up like that,’" Goodall said.
The queen might have given the couple her blessing to withdraw from royal duty, however many fans predict that she might not be happy about Harry’s decision to not teach baby Archie her wave.
