Cape Town - Since marrying Prince Harry, Meghan seems to have taken to royal life like a fish to water – even gaining favour with Queen Elizabeth II.

Now, with the former actress having no immediate family to share her new life with, her majesty has reportedly decided to invite her mom, Doria Ragland (62), to spend Christmas at her private country house in Sandringham, England, Daily Mail reports.

According to an insider, the invitation was meant as a “thoughtful gesture” to the 37-year-old, who is currently pregnant with her first child.

“It's a mark of the queen's respect for Meghan and an acknowledgement that she doesn't have any other relations in this country – unlike Kate who has the support of a very close family,” the source added.

American social worker Doria was the only member of Meghan’s family in attendance at her and Harry’s wedding after Thomas Markle (74) was unable to walk his daughter down the aisle due to health reasons, The Sun reports.

Kate's family have never been asked to join the royals at the queen’s private home and have only attended the morning church service with the family – so Doria will be the first non-royal to spend the day at the estate, Glamour writes.
