Cape Town – Saturday, 31 August, will mark the 22nd anniversary of the day the people lost their princess, and Prince William and Prince Harry, just 15 and 12 at the time, lost their dear mother.

But Princess Diana’s memory lives on – she was once quoted saying she wanted to be the queen "in people’s hearts" and she was, she is –  with Prince William admitting he thinks of and speaks about his mother every day.

In the 2017 documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, when asked how Williams keeps his mom’s memory alive, he said, "[I’m] constantly talking about Granny Diana, reports PEOPLE.

The Duke of Cambridge said they keep photos around the house, but because Kate didn’t know Princess Diana, when it comes to their children, quite often a lot of the explaining falls on him. But he’s found a sweet way of remembering his mom and telling Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis of their late grandmother through bedtime stories.

"So, I do, [when] regularly putting George or Charlotte to bed, talk about her and just try and remind them that there are two grandmothers, there were two grandmothers in their lives.

"It’s important that they know who she was and that she existed."

Her sons often reflect on the mom Princess Diana was. "She was the best mother," Prince Harry said in the documentary. But according to PEOPLE, William joked that she would have been a "nightmare" of a grandmother.

"She’d be a nightmare grandmother, absolute nightmare," he quipped. "She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare. She’d come and go, and she’d come in probably at bath time, cause an amazing amount of scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place and – and then leave."

A source recently told US Weekly in their latest issue with cover story 'Remembering Princess Diana', Harry and William keep the memory of their mother alive even in the way they’ve chosen to parent their children.

"William and Kate are doing their best to take after her [Princess Diana] when it comes to raising George, Charlotte and Louis. They’re determined to give their kids a normal life, just like Diana did."

The source shared, "If the kids misbehave, William often thinks to himself, 'What would my mom have done in this situation?'"

The insider didn’t share much else about the bedtime stories Prince William tells his kids but did comment, "George and Charlotte know all about their late grandmother and what an amazing woman she was.

"William tells them she’s watching over them from heaven."
