Cape Town - It seems the Duchess of Sussex knows how to tug on the heartstrings of this family member.

According to the 2018 biography Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, the Duchess can do no wrong in the eyes of her dad, Thomas Markle (75), the Daily Express reports.

Royal expert and author of the book, Andrew Morton, claimed that the former Suits actress would often tease her half-sister Samantha Markle, saying that she was her Dad’s favourite child. She would also often receive expensive gifts from home.

But things weren’t always smooth sailing.

According to Andrew, the Duchess (38) and her dad had a massive tiff after her high school graduation.

“Meghan went to stay with her mother and didn’t even visit her father’s house to pick up her mail,” Andrew said.

“It was a situation that perplexed her friends, because they knew Meghan was the apple of her father’s eye who could get away with murder. She could twist him round her little finger.”

Despite being her father’s favourite, the Hollywood lighting director didn’t attend her and Prince Harry’s wedding in May 2018, The Sun reports.

The rift came after Thomas was caught red-handed staging pictures of himself sitting at a computer while reading a news story about the royal pair’s engagement, Cosmopolitan reports.

Shortly after the scandal broke Samantha took responsibility for the incident.

“The bad press over my father… is my fault,” Samantha said in a since-deleted tweet.

“The media was unfairly making him [Thomas] look bad, so I suggested he do positive photos for his benefit and the benefit of the royal family.

“We had no idea he would be taken advantage of. It wasn’t for money.”
