Cape Town - Meghan Markle’s father is reportedly looking to hire a legal team to force the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to let him see his grandchild.

Thomas Markle is said to be desperate to reconcile with his daughter before she gives birth.

Royal sources say the 74-year-old grandpa-to-be has spoken of his “rights” to see the new royal baby, seeing as the tot will be part of his family too, The Sun reports.

“The palace is acutely aware of what problems could lie ahead with Thomas. He strongly believes the baby should be as much a part of his life as they will be Prince Charles’,”  a source told Mirror.

“Thomas says the Markle blood will be as much in the child’s veins as the ‘blue blood’ of the royals and he has ‘rights’. He admits making mistakes but with Meghan pregnant, he’s desperate to heal the rift.

“Thomas has reached out to Kensington Palace, more so since news of Meghan’s pregnancy broke, hoping the baby will be what finally breaks their estrangement.”

He’s also contacted the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby – who married Prince Harry (34) and Meghan (37) – in a bid to help him mend his relationship with his daughter, Daily Mail reports.

He’s even offered to fly to the UK if he’d be allowed to sit down with Meghan and Harry once they’ve returned from their royal tour of Australia.

The former Suits actress, who’s due to have her first child in the British spring of 2019, cut off contact with her dad after he posed for paparazzi snaps a week before the royal wedding in May.

Thomas had made a secret deal to stage paparazzi photographs of him getting measured for a suit.

His daughter initially forgave him but decided to cut ties with him after he revealed details of a phone call with the prince in an interview published in August.

Thomas also recently spoke out about how he found out his daughter was expecting – he says he heard about Meghan’s pregnancy on the radio.

Friends of the retired film lighting technician say he’d even like the baby to be named Thomas if Meghan has a boy, Mirror reports.
