Johannesburg - We were wondering when he’d add his two cents worth – and it didn’t take long . . .

The Duchess of Sussex’s estranged father, Thomas Markle (74), has voiced his opinion about ongoing rumours that his daughter is involved in a feud with her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The outspoken former TV lighting director spoke to the Daily Mail on Sunday saying he’s surprised by the so-called fallout and reports that his daughter is “difficult” and “demanding” to work for.

“I don’t recognise this person,” Thomas said about claims that his pregnant 37-year-old daughter had reduced a staff member to tears and made Kate cry during a fitting for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress before she wedded Prince Harry, US Weekly reports.

“The Meghan I know was always sweet, kind, generous. She was always demanding but never rude. I don’t want to say or do anything to hurt my daughter but I worry she is going to hurt herself.”

He added that as a child Meghan joined him on many TV sets in Los Angeles where he worked and he always taught her to treat crew members fairly. “I taught her to have respect for the crew. They can make you look good or awful.”

He conceded that during the time they weren’t in contact (they haven’t spoken since her wedding in May) she might have changed. “I don’t pretend to know what she’s like now.”

However, the Meghan of old is nothing like the damning reports circulating now, he says. “She bends the rules. She’s good at that. But this acting up is new. She’s never been rude to me before.”

Thomas is no stranger to controversy, having declared in July that Meghan “seemed terrified” of her royal duties and, in August , comparing the royal family to “a cult” . He also admitted he lied to Harry about staged paparazzi photos he had taken shortly before the wedding, People reports.
