They may all be self-isolating in their respective homes, but the royal family still managed to come together to thank those who are doing their utmost amid the coronavirus crisis.
The queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Kate, as well as the Princess Royal, Princess Alexandra and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, all thanked nurses on what was International Nurses Day on Tuesday.
"Good afternoon. This is rather an important day," the queen says in an audio recording of a telephone call to Professor Kathleen McCourt, the president of the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation and fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, at the start of a video shared by the royal family on Twitter. "They’ve [nurses] obviously had a very important part to play recently..."
From the United Kingdom to India and Malawi, the video shows members of the royal saying a big thank you to those on the frontline as they speak directly to nurses across the world.
The Duchess of Cambridge even jokes she may recruit one of the nurses’ ex-wives, who happens to be a former teacher, to take over for her as she continues to homeschool Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Prince Charles, who recently recovered from Covid-19, concludes the video with a heartfelt personal message. "Thank you so much for the diligence and courage you have shown," he says.

While the queen is staying in Windsor with Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla are at their home in Scotland. Prince William and Kate are in Norfolk, and Prince Harry and Meghan are settling into life in Los Angeles.
The royal family has continued to work while in isolation, with William and Kate, in particular, making numerous virtual visits amid the pandemic.
The queen has continued to conduct meetings from home, though sources say it may be a long while – perhaps the longest in her 68-year reign – until she can formally return to work.
