Every so often rumours start swirling about the queen's potential retirement, and though it won't be happening any time soon (a spokesperson for Prince Charles released a statement in December saying, again, "There are no plans for any change in arrangements at the age of 95 – or any other age."), so too do the rumours of the Duchess of Cornwall's title.
If Prince Charles becomes king, will Camilla be queen?
Though experts have claimed in the past that the Prince of Wales will want to give his wife the honour of queen – Vanity Fair once wrote an explainer about how she may eventually take on the title of "queen consort" as it would be the customary title for the wife of the king – Clarence House is clearing the air.
Speaking to The Times, a spokesperson confirmed, "The intention is for the duchess to be known as princess consort when the prince accedes to the throne.
"This was announced at the time of the marriage and there has been absolutely no change at all."
When Camilla married Charles in April 2005, she was given the title Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cornwall, by the queen, as one of the Prince of Wales' titles is that of the Duke of Cornwall, reports Reader's Digest.
Of course, his title of Prince of Wales is the most well known and the highest-ranking of his titles. But because the People's Princess, Diana, was also affectionately known as the Princess of Wales, Camilla opted for the Duchess of Cornwall instead.
