3 new movies to watch this long weekend

Cape Town – The galaxy defenders are back in cinemas this weekend.

This time around Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson star as Agent H and Agent M, who employ high-tech weaponry to battle mischievous aliens on Earth. However, the pair also discover a major threat within their own ranks.

Also showing: The sequel to the 2017 film A Dog's Purpose, and a biopic about the life of Russian ballet superstar, Rudolf Nureyev.

HERE ARE THE 3 NEW FILMS RELEASING IN SA:

Movie: Men in Black: International

Our rating: 3/5

Short review: An inconsequential relaunch of the Men in Black franchise, but Men in Black: International is still breezily enjoyable and a perfect pick for something to watch during the upcoming July holidays.

Movie: A Dog's Journey

Our rating: 3/5

Short review: The sequel to the 2017 film has more heart, cute dogs, and the message that a good boy/girl makes life a little bit better.

Movie: The White Crow

Our rating: 2/5

Short review: A textbook example of the whole being less than the sum of its parts, the White Crow has so much going for it only to be entirely undermined by its cataclysmically misjudged flashback-heavy structure.
