Johannesburg - City Press has put together a list of movies to catch in cinemas this week.

This includes the Brothers Hypnotic running from 2-3 April.

First-time director Jordan Peele uses a hilarious “let’s escape the crazies” horror story to make some fierce political commentary on race in the US. – Rhodé Marshall

Power Rangers

This disappointing reboot of the beloved 90s franchise lacks all the camp and kitch that made the series so good. – Grethe Kemp

This new local film sees an acerbic university professor try to rebuild his life after his wife leaves him for another man. – Grethe Kemp

For the eight young men in the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, “brotherhood” is literal: they’re all sons of anti-establishment jazz legend Phil Cohran, who, along with their mothers, raised them in Chicago on a strict diet of jazz, funk and black consciousness.

Now grown, they make music that is at once joyful, unremittingly exciting and undeniably wonderful as they raise eight brass horns to the sky. This is a great coming-of-age story.
