Cape Town – The horror genre dominated the box office this year.
It started out with Jordan Peele’s provocative Get Out, then came the much-anticipated remake of Stephen King’s IT and the year capped off with surprise hit Happy Death Day.
The New York Times Magazine celebrated the comeback of the horror genre with a series of shorts starring some of the year’s top actors: Nicole Kidman, Jake Gylenhaal, Brooklyn Prince, Andy Serkis, Daniel Kaluuya, Saoirse Ronan, Cynthia Nixon, Daniela Vega, Tiffany Haddish and Timothée Chalamet.
The 10 films were directed by Floria Sigismondi, best known for writing and directing The Runaways.
Here are five of our favourites:
Nicole Kidman: The Possessed
Brooklyn Prince: The Demon Child
Jake Gyllenhaal: The Damned
Tiffany Haddish: The Macabre Dancer
