Los Angeles - Emily Blunt is in line to star in The Avengers 2.
The British actress is going head to head with Luther star Ruth Wilson to play the role of Ms Marvel in the follow-up to the movie, starring Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson.
The character originally came into Marvel Super Heroes as US Air Force officer Carol Susan Jane Danvers, and came out with superpowers after being caught in an explosion with Captain Marvel.
However, confirmation has not yet been given about her part and filming does not begin until next year.
Meanwhile, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner has confirmed she would love some characters from the movies to go into The Avengers sequel.
She said: "I would love it. I personally have close ties to Marvel because of Kevin Feige. Kevin worked for me. But to take our characters and mingle them in the way that they were written - yeah, absolutely."
Spider-Man was once rumoured to be in The Avengers but did not materialise in the final edit.
