Los Angeles - Emma Watson is to receive the MTV Trailblazer Award.

The 22-year-old actress will be honoured at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards for her remarkable achievements in the film industry since rising to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films.

The British beauty is also up for three other accolades at the ceremony for her role in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, including Best Female Performance, Best Kiss, with co-star Logan Lerman, and Best Musical Moment.

The Trailblazer Award is only in its second year and recognises the best young actors and honours them for their career achievements and for inspiring others.

Stephen Friedman, President of MTV, said in a statement: "She's been a constant presence in the lives of our audience for more than a decade and is continuing to challenge her craft with upcoming roles as radically diverse as her enormous talent."

Emma Stone was the recipient of the first ever Trailblazer Award last year.

The 2013 MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by Rebel Wilson and the event takes place at Sony Pictures Studios Lot in Culver City, California on 14 April.
