Jake Gyllenhaal wants 50 Shades role

Los Angeles - Jake Gyllenhaal wants to star in a Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

The 31-year old actor is delighted with speculation surrounding him being cast as lead character Christian Grey - who introduces a young college graduate to the world of bondage and kinky sex - in the big screen adaptation of EL James' erotic novel, and he is keen on making the part his own.

When asked if he would consider taking on the role, Jake said: "Yeah, of course! I always want to work, man, of course."

While the Brokeback Mountain Oscar nominee is yet to be contacted about the part, he was pleased to be linked to the film.

Speaking on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM radio show, he said: "That's super flattering. I mean, I have not heard that, but if that's true then that's a nice thing. It's always nice to be considered."

EL James has publically refused to reveal which male actor she would prefer for the movie adaptation, in case it doesn't work out the way she originally predicted.

Nevertheless, a host of other hunky actors have been linked to controversial main character Christian, including Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy and Matt Bomer.
