Cape Town - South Africa will no longer serve as a filming location for the new James Bond movie, Skyfall.
The new title and details of the spy adventure were unveiled at a press conference in London on Thursday, as well as the cast, which includes Daniel Craig as the suave secret agent 007, Dame Judi Dench as M, Javier Bardem as a villain, Naomie Harris as field agent Eve, and French actress Bérénice Marlohe as Bond girl Séverine.
"We’re so delighted to have Sam Mendes direct Skyfall and be working once again with Daniel Craig," said producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
"We've a great script, an extraordinary cast and an incredibly talented creative team for this latest James Bond adventure."
Train stunt
Though most of the movie will be filmed at Pinewood Studios in London, a list of international filming locations were also revealed, which include Duntrune Castle in Scotland; Shanghai, China; and Istanbul, Turkey. But South Africa was not included.
It emerged in September this year that South Africa was being scouted as a possible location for a dangerous train stunt after the producers encountered red tape in their first choice of Ahmedabad in India.
The local Indian government were reluctant to allow EON Productions to shoot the action scenes there, and a back-up plan of shooting in South Africa was kept on hold should an agreement not be reached.
The Cape Town Film Commission had also expressed their hopes and plans for the action-packed shoot.
However, the South African option was not taken up by Bond producers.
