Johannesburg - South Africa's favourite prankster Leon Schuster is plotting his return to the big screen with his new "top secret" movie Schuks! Your Country Needs You, which has wrapped filming in Johannesburg.
The movie follows in the SA box office king's comedy tradition which sets up hidden camera pranks and catches out ordinary South Africans – as well as some familiar faces.
The movie will be Schuster's second co-production with the Walt Disney Company, which also marketed and distributed his hot comedy Mad Buddies, which was released in June 2012.
Schuks! Your Country Needs You reunites Schuster with his long-time collaborators director Gray Hofmeyr, producer Andre Scholtz and actor Alfred "Shorty" Ntombela.
'More, bigger, better pranks'
The movie also stars SA comedian Rob van Vuuren, who had a memorable cameo in Schuster's last candid camera flick Schuks Tshabalala's Survival Guide to South Africa, as well as actress Laré Birk.
"I am especially excited to deliver some much-needed laughter to South African audiences," said Schuster about his new film. "We're about as culturally diverse as a country can be, but we all share a common sense of humour - and if making people laugh means I need to get klapped a few times, it's worth it!" he added.
Schuks! Your Country Needs You also marks Hofmeyr's eighth time as both director and co-writer of a Schuster film.
"Although audiences are familiar with the laugh-a-minute format of past prank-filled Schuster films, we can guarantee that this one has more, bigger and better pranks than we ever dared pull off before," he said.
Schuks! Your Country Needs You is set for release on 29 November 2013 and will be distributed by The Walt Disney Company Africa under the Touchstone Pictures banner.
