Los Angeles - Marvel will make a female superhero film.

The movie studio - which has enjoyed incredible success with Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers - is hoping to release a comic book movie featuring a female protagonist, according to studio boss Kevin Feige.

Speaking at Entertainment Weekly's CapeTown Film Fest, he said: "We have a number of candidates from the comics and from the movies we've already made. It's just a matter of finding the right storyline, the right filmmaker, the right time."

Responding to a suggestion from the crowd for a She-Hulk movie, he said: "She-Hulk would be pretty great."

Thus far, Marvel has only introduced one crime-fighting femme fatale in its movies - Scarlett Johansson's S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, who played a pivotal role in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers, and will have a lead role in next year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Elsewhere, Feige denied that the studio will make a new Daredevil movie after rights to the character reverted back to Marvel.

20th Century Fox leased the rights to the blind superhero, releasing the critically panned Daredevil starring Ben Affleck in 2003, but lost ownership last year.

Feige said: "There comes a time in contracts where, if a studio is done making the movies, [the characters] come home. That doesn't mean we're going to make another movie. But it means they're back in the fold, which is where we want them to be."

Black Widow has as much personality as a piece of cardboard in Avengers. Please make a decent female superhero movie!
