Nicole Kidman quits sex addict movie

Los Angeles - Nicole Kidman has quit Nymphomaniac.

The Oscar winner was initially linked to the controversial film, which looks back at a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac's erotic experiences with a man who saved her after a beating, but she has reportedly pulled out, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While a reason for Nicole's departure has not been confirmed, it is thought she is not keen to star in the project since director Lars von Trier revealed he is planning to use real sex scenes.

'Blurred images'

Fellow star Shia LaBeouf seems keener about the nature of the feature and even sent Lars sex tapes of him and his girlfriend as part of his audition to be in the film.

Back in August he supported Lars' choice to shoot the risque film as real as he possibly could, saying: "[The movie] is what you think it is. It is Lars von Trier, making a movie about what he's making. For instance, there's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we're doing it for real.

"Everything that is illegal, we'll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening."

Charlotte Gainsbourg is to play sex addict Joe in the movie, and Willem Dafoe, Uma Thurman, Christian Slater, and Stellan Skarsgard are also in line to appear in the motion picture.

Two versions of the film, hardcore and softcore, are to be released in 2013.
