Cape Town - South African actor Sharlto Copley is preparing for his third role in a Neill Blomkamp film after signing on to star in the director's next movie, Chappie.
Little is known about the Chappie plot, other than it will follow in the Blomkamp tradition of telling gritty, big-scale science fiction stories.
The movie will also star Die Antwoord zef rappers Yolandi Vi$$er and Ninja. According to the film's IMDB profile, the only other known cast member is Malawian-born Eugene Khumbanyiwa, who played drug lord Obesandjo 7 in District 9.
The title and casting also suggests the movie will be set in South Africa - and reports suggest that the movie is "comedic" and has an "unusual setting".

Copley rocketed to fame in 2009 as the star of Blomkamp's feature debut District 9, which went on to worldwide critical acclaim, four Oscar nominations, and a worldwide box office haul of over $210m - on a $30m budget.
Blomkamp's next sci-fi blockbuster Elysium, due for release in South Africa on 30 August, 2013 sees Copley star opposite Matt Damon and Jodie Foster in a futuristic film. The movie is set in the year 2159, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station named Elysium, while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth. Damon plays Max Da Costa, an ordinary man in desperate need to get to Elysium.
SA-born Canadian-based Blomkamp will direct and write Chappie, along with writing partner Terri Tatchell, with whom he also co-wrote District 9.
Chappie is set to be released in 2014.
Copley will also be seen in two major releases over the next year: Spike Lee's remake of the Korean cult classic Oldboy opposite Samuel L Jackson and Josh Brolin, and Disney's Sleeping Beauty retelling Maleficent, opposite Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning.
