Los Angeles - Dwanye Johnson is in talks to star in Baywatch.
The actor and former wrestler is said to be "loosely attached" to the upcoming film adaptation of the iconic lifeguard show following the emergence of rumours linking him to the production.
While Dwayne, 47, is yet to confirm his role in the movie, sources have confirmed that Horrible Bosses 2 director Sean Anders and writer John Morris are on board, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Dwayne confirmed the rumours on Twitter:
Justin Malen has also been called in to pen the script for the remake of the adaptation of the hit 90s show set on a stretch of California beach.
Meanwhile, Dwayne has been kept busy shooting Fast & Furious 7 - which is set to be released on April 3 next year - and has hailed the seventh installment of the action movie franchise as "incredible".
The hunky actor who recently starred in Hercules - teased the trailer to the new movie, saying watching the promo was "emotional and bittersweet", referring specifically to an image of himself with late co-star Paul Walker.
His post reads: "Universal came to visit, to show the trailer for FF7. Speechless... yeah, it was that INCREDIBLE! (sic)"
The 47-year-old actor added that he wished Walker was around to see the new film for himself.
He said: "I must also say, that it was emotional and bittersweet."
The movie boasts a star-studded cast which also includes Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham and Kurt Russell.
