This is the most watched movie trailer ever on YouTube

Cape Town - We have all seen those movies where ‘boy meets girl, girl has truck loads of baggage but boy falls hopelessly in love with her anyways, boy chases girl for a while and girl finally relents. Then when they are finally at a point where they can be together tragedy strikes and boy has to be a hero for his lady love movies. But ladies and gentlemen,  this is not that movie.

A new film starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort has become the most viewed trailer on YouTube taking the spot from One Direction’s This Is Us. Since it was posted on 29 January the trailer has received a staggering  17 320 249 views and counting.

The film is based on a book by John Green titled The Fault in Our Stars and tells the story of Hazel and Gus two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.

The book was adapted into screenplay by Scott Neustadter  and Michael H. Weber, directed by Josh Boon and it’s scheduled for release on the 6th of June is the USA. Saying we are excited to watch the movie when it screens in South Africa is the biggest understatement of the century.

We are ecstatic!
