Three more Fast and Furious films planned

Los Angeles - The Fast & Furious franchise will release "at least" three more films.

According to Universal Pictures executive Donna Langley, the series is "still growing" and multiple follow ups to the 7th instalment of the action movie, Furious 7 which is set for release in April 2015, are being considered.

She also addressed concerns for the future of the franchise following the death of one of the movie's stars, Paul Walker, who passed away in a car accident in November last year.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: "We think there's at least three more.

"Paul [Walker] is, and always will be, an integral part of the story. But there are many other great characters, and it's also an opportunity to introduce new characters. I think it's still a growing franchise.

"We'll see what happens with Furious 7, obviously, but our box office has grown over the past three or four films and internationally, in particular. So we think that there's more to mine there. But we're of course very mindful about fatigue."

The statement follows reports that Fast & Furious 6 director Justin Lin will be returning to the franchise to film a double finale for the series.
