Cape Town - The wealthy, well-connected Gupta family is celebrating the nuptials of Vega Gupta, 23, to Aakash Jahajgarhia, 24, in a lavish wedding at South Africa's luxury Sun City resort.
But away from the celebrations and festivities, the Guptas and their guests have caused much controversy while in South Africa.
Questions have been raised about receiving preferential treatment from the government after an aircraft chartered by the family at Waterkloof Air Force Base on Tuesday, with several government departments denying having anything to do with clearing the jet for landing.
The family has come under fire for the lavish wedding ceremony, and allegations of racism have been levelled at them and their guests from Sun City staff saying that the guests refused to be served by black people.
So while the SA government tries to make sense of the diplomatic kerfuffle, and the Guptas themselves try to make South Africans see that they should actually be grateful for being chosen to host this auspicious ceremony, Twitter has had some fun with the whole to-do.
The hashtag #Guptamovies has been trending in South Africa, with users re-working the titles of famous movies to give them a Gupta-style twist.
