Vin Diesel confirms Riddick sequel

Los Angeles - Vin Diesel has confirmed plans for a Riddick sequel.

The 46-year-old actor plays the anti-hero who the latest film is named after in 2000's Pitch Black, 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick and 2013's Riddick, and thanked fans for their support before announcing plans for another.

In a video posted on his Facebook page he told 63.6 million fans: "Universal just called me and told me Riddick is number one on the DVD charts. There's no way Riddick would have been made without you guys.

"It's a win for all of us and I really, really thank you so much. Yeah, I'm excited, and of course, Universal also says they want to develop the next one."

Diesel - real name is Mark Vincent - is seen battling alien predators in the sci-fi thrillers which were written and directed by 58-year-old David Twohy.

The Hollywood hunk - who can be seen dancing to Katy Perry and Beyoncé in the video - also revealed he hadn't been at the Grammy Awards last weekend because he preparing to film the remainder of Fast and Furious 7.
