Los Angeles - Vince Vaughn is set to star in The Politician.
The Wedding Crashers star is attached to take on the lead role in the upcoming Columbia comedy about a scandal-hit politician, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The script - which was written by Matthew Bass and Theodore Bressman - tells the story of a Washington, D.C. politician who gets caught up in a scandal with a group of prostitutes and is forced, along with his underachieving accomplice, to go on the run from the FBI, U.S. Marshals and a gang of drug dealers.
Michael Dowse, who directed current romantic comedy hit What If, is on board to helm the project while Seth Rogen is to produce alongside his Point Grey Pictures partners Evan Goldberg and James Weaver and veteran producer Mark Gordon.
Vaughan recently wrapped filming on Peter Billingsley's action comedy Term Life and is rumoured to be joining the cast of the highly anticipated second season of HBO series 'True Detective'.
Dowse's previous films include cult hockey comedy 'Goon' - which starred Sean William Scott, Jay Baruchel and Liev Schreiber - and his breakthrough feature 'It's All Gone Pete Tong', which won several awards at the U.S Comedy Arts Festival. It is so far unknown as to when shooting will begin on The Politician.
