Amalia Uys gives the scoop on playing the leading lady in new romcom

Cape Town – Amalia Uys is back on the big screen in a new Afrikaans romantic comedy.

In Sy Klink soos Lente she plays the female lead, Linda.

The film centres on Ben, a mechanic who meets the woman of his dreams, his boss' daughter, Linda. There's a spark between the two and to disguise his identity he tells her he's in a band.

But there's one tiny problem, he's not. So to maintain his lie he sets out and forms a band with his workmates.

We had a quick chat with Amalia about her role.

1. How did you get involved with the project?

The producers, writer and director asked me to audition. I got the part and the rest is history!

2. Are there any similarities between you and your character?

I play Linda, the female lead. We have the same type of sense of humor and we are both very ambitious and passionate about our careers but she is definitely more of a left brain type of person than me. I'm a little bit crazy...

3. What’s the one thing that will surprise people about the film?

The fresh humour- especially because it hasn't been done in Afrikaans cinema before.

4.What was the most challenging aspect during filming?

Night shoots are always difficult in terms of energy levels but I really enjoyed every moment of the process so there weren't any hectic challenges. And trying not to burst out laughing in the middle of a scene and ruin the moment.

5. Why should people go and see it?

Because going to the movies is awesome and this film in particular will change your life and make you want to fall in love all over again.

The film releases in cinemas nationwide on Friday, 30 September.
