Amanda Seyfried and Ed Helms to co-star in funny new flick

Los Angeles - Amanda Seyfried and Ed Helms are to star in The Clapper.

Deadline reports the two actors have both signed up to director Dito Montiel's comedy which is an adaptation of his own novel of the same name.

The tome follows the story of Eddie Krumble who works as a professional clapper for infomercials who gets chosen by a late night talk show host to be on his TV series and his resulting 15 minutes of fame has life-changing consequences for him, including losing the job he loves.

Helms is to star as Eddie, while Seyfried will portray his girlfriend, gas station worker Judy - who he loses after his chat show appearance.

Montiel wants the film to highlight the problems that instant fame can cause in today's reality programme driven society.

Helms is also taking on producing responsibilities along with Mike Falbo through their Pacific Electric company as well as Montiel and Robin Schorr.

Helms, 42, has just finished shooting comedy movie Bastards - in which he stars with Owen Wilson.

Seyfried, 30, is scheduled to next start filming American Express with Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton and David Oyelowo.
