Billy Porter says the new Cinderella is 'for the #MeToo era' - Here's everything we know about the film so far

Cape Town – The new film adaptation of Cinderella will have fresh take for a whole new generation of viewers - and we love it.

In case you missed it, singer Camila Cabello will play the titular character in a remake of the famous fairytale.

According to AFP, the project grew out of an original idea from late-night television host James Corden who will executive produce the film. Blockers director Kay Cannon will helm the movie.

In October it was announced that Billy Porter would play the fairy godmother and Idina Menzel will play her evil stepmother.

Last week it was announced that 25-year-old British actor Nicholas Galitzine will play the role of Prince Robert aka Prince Charming.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, Billy told E! News in an interview that he is calling the movie "a Cinderella for the #MeToo era".

He also shared that filming will begin in February 2020 and that he has only had initial conversations about the film on the phone.

The movie is scheduled to be released in 2021.
