Bryce Dallas Howard to play Elton John's mom in biopic

Cape Town - Jurassic World actress Bryce Dallas Howard has landed a role in the upcoming Elton John biopic, Rocketman. 

Howard will play the singer's mother, Sheila Eileen Dwight.

The Pete's Dragon actress shared the news on Instagram. Alongside a photo of John she wrote: "The great thing about rock and roll is that someone like me can be a star." - Elton John #Legend #RocketMan #MamasComing"

Earlier this year Paramount Pictures announced that Taron Egerton (Kingsman, Eddie the Eagle) will play John.

According to Variety the film will follow John's emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a music superstar. 

The film will be directed by Dexter Fletcher, with John and his partner David Furnish as producers.
