With cinemas still closed until further notice movie fans will have to get their kick somewhere else.
And while streaming services offer a wide selection of films to watch in the comfort of your home nothing beats the experience of the smell of fresh buttery popcorn and the big screen.
While cinema doors remain shut, drive-in theatres are experiencing a resurgence.
According to CNN, outdoor cinemas are popping up across the US from Miami, to Florida, to New York.
The trend is also taking flight in the UK with The Standard reporting three new venues in the country.
And in South Africa, the Mother City Drive-in are finalising their plans to launch soon.
Sean Binder, co-founder and owner of Mother City Drive-in, says they have been wanting to launch the drive-in concept for over two years. With all their other events either postponed or cancelled, they feel now is the perfect time.
"With large gatherings being prohibited, we had no choice but to move forward with the drive-in shows. It allows us to still host fun and exciting, family-friendly events with safe social distancing still being adhered to," says Sean.
In terms of planning, Sean says they are moving swiftly and working together with the City.
"Cape Town Tourism has offered their full support, and we are now busy working with the City to implement safety procedures to ensure all our permits are in place. Realistically we will need to wait for level 2 even perhaps level 1 to launch our Drive-in shows. All will be revealed in the weeks to come."

As for the types of movies that will be screened, it ranges from classics, to current and independent films, and themed nights to suit different locations they are looking at.
"We plan to host a variety of different drive-in shows such as comedy and live music shows offering comedians a platform to showcase their art during these trying times. Over time we will also introduce live theatre shows as who knows when theatres will re-open?
"The experience will be drastically improved as technology has come a way since the drive-in of yesteryear, for instance patrons will be able to tune into a certain FM frequency and enjoy surround sound in the comfort of their vehicles."
And it seems that the Mother City Drive-in couldn't have been announced at a better time as there is massive interest from the general public.
"We are blown away by the interest people have shown, various television and radio interviews have taken place, and we have been inundated with people asking when, where, how.
Sean adds: "It just goes to show what a need there is to bring back the Drive-in! Mother City Drive-in coming soon!"
