Cape Town - An online petition to have Danny DeVito play Wolverine has gotten over 27 000 signatures.
The 74-year-old actor's fans have started a petition on Change.org for him to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the rebooted version of Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman played the superhero since 2000. The 2017 film Logan, was his last appearance as the titular character. Earlier this year Hugh became a Guinness World Record holder for Longest Career as a Live Action Marvel Superhero - he played the role for 16 years and 228 days.

The petition was started by a user called Ring Arius and reads: "The only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman. We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the only man able to pull it off is Danny DeVito."

Danny is no stranger to comic movie genre in 1992 he played the villain, Penguin in Batman Returns.
