Get ready for Luc Besson's long-awaited sci-fi adventure

Cape Town – Luc Besson's long awaited sci-fi adventure film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets hits cinemas on Friday, 21 July.

Based on the ground-breaking comic book series that inspired a generation of artists, writers and filmmakers comes the vision of a lifetime in the making.

In the 28th century, Valerian (Dane Dehaan, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Chronicle) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne Suicide Squad, Paper Towns) comprise a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories.

The two embark on a mission to the astonishing city of Alpha — an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with one another.

There is a mystery at the centre of Alpha, a dark force that threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.
