Harrison Ford remembers his ‘one-of-a-kind’ co-star Carrie Fisher

Cape Town - Harrison Ford has released a statement following his Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher’s death.

The actor – who plays Han Solo in the science fiction film franchise – paid tribute to Fisher, calling her “brilliant, fearless and one-of-a-kind”.

The statement said: "Carrie was one-of-a-kind, brilliant, original. Funny and emotionally fearless.

"She lived her life, bravely ... My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her Mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her."

Earlier this year Fisher revealed that her and Ford weren’t only lovers in the film franchise but also shared a brief but very intense love affair off-screen.

Asked by National Public Radio (NPR) recently why she wrote about her fling with Ford, who was 14 years older and married at the time, she joked that she could no longer hold back because he had refused to die.

She said, "I kept calling and saying, 'When are you going to die because I want to tell the story?’"

The late actress wrote about the fling in her new memoir, The Princess Diarist, which recounts her experiences on the Star Wars set.
