Cape Town - It appears Harry Styles might be going under the sea.

The One Direction band member is reportedly in talks to play Ariel’s love interest Prince Eric in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

The singer is in the first stages of negotiations to play the iconic role and is said to be an early favourite, The Guardian reports.

The 25-year-old would star alongside Beyoncé prodigy Halle Bailey who’s been cast as Ariel and Melissa McCarthy who’s rumoured to be playing Ursula.

The casting of Halle, and potentially Harry, appears to show the filmmakers intent to make the music a central focus of the Disney classic, Hollywood Reporter reports.

The film will be directed by Rob Marshall who also directed Mary Poppins Returns for the studio.

The new Disney classic remake is expected to be released in 2020 and will feature music from the original 1989 animated classic as well as new music from Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken, CBS news reports.

Harry hasn’t yet confirmed the reports on any of his social media platforms.
