Harvey Weinstein has undergone heart surgery.
The former movie mogul has been moved to Rikers Island jail in New York following the operation. Weinstein (67) was recently convicted of rape and sexual assault, the BBC reports.
Following the trial, he experienced chest pains and was hospitalised at a secure facility in Manhattan where a stent was implanted to remove a blockage in his heart.
The former film producer is due back in court on 11 March for sentencing and could possibly face up to 25 years behind bars.
The #MeToo movement was sparked by women coming forward with accusations of sexual abuse against the former head of the Miramax entertainment company that eventually landed him in court, according to The Guardian.
He also faces charges in Los Angeles for sexual misconduct and is currently under investigation in London.
Weinstein pleaded not guilty at his trial in New York and has consistently denied any non-consensual sex.
