A few hours after being sentenced to 23 years in prison, disgraced Hollywood producer and director Harvey Weinstein complained of chest pains.
Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison on Wednesday 11 March in the Manhattan criminal court for sexual assault and third-degree rape, CNN reports.
After being sentenced, Harvey was reportedly transported to Bellevue Hospital with chest pains, according to NBC News.
The former movie mogul previously also spent a few days in the hospital after his conviction.
According to his spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, Weinstein was kept at the facility overnight so that he could be monitored.
“We’re hopeful he will be held overnight for observation given his recent heart procedure less than a week ago and his ongoing medical issues,” Jude said.
“We appreciate the care and concern of the department of corrections officers and staff.”
Last month, the 67-year-old was convicted of sexual assault and third-degree rape after being found guilty by a jury made up of five women and seven men, Express reports.
In her court testimony, one of his victims, Mimi Haleyi, whom the producer had sexually assaulted, opened up about the trauma she’d endured.
“It scarred me deeply, mentally and emotionally – perhaps irreparably, perhaps forever,” Mimi said.
“I’m forced to carry that experience until I die.”
Harvey previously disputed the charges and said that the sex was consensual.
