Cape Town – Australian actor Damon Herriman will play cult leader Charles Mansion in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed the news that the Justified actor is joining the star-studded ensemble movie.
Manson's followers, the Manson Family committed a series of nine murders at four locations in July and August 1969.
In 1971 he was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He died in November 2017.
The film centres on fading actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) who try to make a name for themselves in Tinseltown during the Charles Manson murders in 1969 Los Angeles.

Dalton is the neighbour of Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), one of the Manson murder victims. Tate was married to controversial director Roman Polanski and was eight and a half month's pregnant at the time of her death. Robbie shared a first look picture of herself in character on Instagram.

Other cast members include: Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino, Damian Lewis, Emile Hirsch, Timothy Olyphant, James Marsden and Tim Roth.
The publication also announced the latest additions to the cast last week: Rumer Willis, Dreama Walker, Margaret Qualley, Costa Ronin, Victoria Pedretti, Madisen Beaty, Lena Dunham, Lorenza Izzo and Austin Butler.
Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman’s daughter Maya Hawke will make her acting debut as the character named Flower Child.
The film is scheduled to be released on 9 August 2019, the 50th anniversary of the Manson murder.
