Cape Town – Men in Black actor Rip Torn has died at the age of 88.
The actor's publicist Rick Miramontez confirmed the news that he died on Tuesday after at his home with his wife, actress Amy Wright and his daughters by his side, reports The Guardian.
The Academy-award nominated actor who has over 191 credits to his name is best known for his role as Agent Zed in Men In Black and HBO's The Larry Sanders Show.
In 1996 he won an Emmy award for his role in the sitcom.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, he helped launch the career of his cousin Sissy Spacek.
Will Smith, Seth McFarlane, Rob Schneider and Mara Wilson were amongst the celebrities who paid tribute to him on social media.
