It looks like Beverly Hills Cop 4 is finally happening!

Los Angeles - Beverly Hills Cop 4 has got two directors.

A new addition to the action/comedy franchise which stars Eddie Murphy as fast-talking Detroit police detective Axel Foley has been mooted for some time as a film and then as a TV series, which was scrapped at the pilot stage.

The first proposed fourth film was supposed to hit cinemas this year but never happened but now Paramount has moved the project forward, according to Deadline, by hiring Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to make the movie.

The pair were handed the movie after producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Murphy were impressed with the pair's film Black and scheduled a meeting with them.
During the meeting, Arbi and Fallah - who met at film school in Brussels, Belgium - revealed that they are massive fans the first Beverly Hills Cop movie - which was released in 1984 - and told Bruckheimer and Murphy they would relish the opportunity to bring Foley back to the big screen.

Murphy, 55, previously revealed he wouldn't return to his most famous role just to "make some paper" and would only come back if the producers had a "really incredible script".

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol writers Andre Nemec and Josh Applebaum have been given the responsibility to pen the script and provide more gags for Foley.
Shooting on Beverly Hills Cop 4 is due to start at the end of this year or at the start of 2017.
